Review Title:NEC ND-1300A DVD±R/RW Writer
Reviewer:Phired
Date Of Review:June 2003
ND-1300A Provided By:BigPockets.co.uk
Blank DVDs Provided By:Verbatim

Conclusion

The ND-1300A costs under £200, it can write a 4.7GB DVD+R in under 20 minutes and a 4.7GB DVD+RW in just over 20 minutes. It can be used to write either DVD+R/RW or DVD-R/RW, this makes it an excellent choice for backing up DVDs or storing information from your hard drive. Unfortunately it is not as compatible with DVD-R/RW DVDs as the Pioneer DVR-A05. which becomes a problem if you are looking to by cheaper DVD media. The NEC Web site includes loads of info including FAQs, white papers, firmware upgrades, manuals and links to relevant software vendor sites. Their link for the drive is here. The ND-1300A also writes ordinary blank CD's with ease filling an 800mb CD-R in about 5 minutes 30 seconds and a CD-RW in less than 12 minutes.

I award the NEC ND-1300A

89%

for its combination of DVD writing formats and high speeds which make it great value for money.

I would like to thank BigPockets (www.bigpockets.co.uk) for supplying the ND-1300A and I would also like to thank Verbatim (www.verbatim-europe.com) for supplying Blank DVDs.
