Conclusion
The ND-2500 can be bought for under £50 and is still a great drive for those who want to backup files from their hard drive or store movies. A 4.7GB DVD±R can be written in under 10 minutes and a 4.7GB DVD±RW in around 14 minutes. Although the drive never faltered when using Verbatim Media, it was found that like the ND-1300a when using cheaper media the occasional coaster would occur as well as stuttering during DVDs and Music. The NEC Web site includes loads of info including FAQs, white papers, firmware upgrades, manuals and links to relevant software vendor sites. Their link for the drive is here. The ND-2500 also writes ordinary blank CD's with ease filling an 800mb CD-R in about 4 minutes and a CD-RW in less than 6 minutes.
